1] The Petitioner intends to start a new Law College. It has been granted permission by the State Government on 15/07/2024 through its Department of Higher and Technical Education. The University of Mumbai has granted its permission on 22/10/2024. The Petitioner has accordingly made its application to the Bar Council of India on 26/12/2024. Since the necessary inspection has not yet been undertaken, the petitioner has approached this Court. 2] The learned counsel for the Respondent no.4 - Bar Council of India on instructions submits that the date for inspection of proposed new Colleges is extended till 31/05/2025. He further submits that on payment of late fees, if any, necessary inspection can be undertaken. 3] In view of the aforesaid, subject to the Petitioner paying necessary late fees as applicable and undertaking other requisite compliances, the BDP-SPS 1/2
2 901 WP-5821-25.doc Bar Council of India shall take steps to inspect the proposed College at the earliest and in any event, prior to 31/05/2025. 4] With the aforesaid directions, the writ petition is disposed of. All order.
