The learned counsel for the petitioner, at the outset, submits that if leave is granted to amend the petition, appropriate grounds would be raised and consequential prayer shall be added by way of amendment to challenge the power and authority of respondent No.1 to issue notifications/ office memoranda under the provisions of the Passport Act, 1967, to curtail the period for which a valid passport is renewed, on the ground that criminal cases are pending against the passport holder.

Leave to amend is granted. Amendment be carried out within two weeks from today.

Upon amendment being carried out, issue notice, returnable after three weeks thereafter. The learned counsel R. B. Bagul waives notice on behalf of both the respondents.

Upon amendment, pleadings be served on the learned counsel for respondent Nos.1 and 2. Reply affidavit shall be placed on record within two weeks.
