The Petitioner was an employee of a college affiliated with the University of Mumbai. The Maharashtra Public Universities Act, 2016, is applicable. So also, the earlier Universities Act of 1994 was also applicable to the Petitioner, who is now 69 years of age. His termination from probation as a Principal has been upheld by the University Tribunal, the learned Single Judge Bench, as well as by the Hon'ble Supreme Court. All these orders have been placed on record.

The Petitioner's grievance is that adequate gratuity amount and retirement benefits have not been paid by the college. The Petitioner may either approach the Controlling Authority under the Payment of Gratuity Act or the Grievance Redressal Committee under the Universities Act.

The learned Advocate for the Petitioner submits that the Petitioner would approach the Grievance Committee for espousing his cause.

Needless to state, all contentions of all the stakeholders are kept open.
