Mr. Varun H. Thanawala i/by Mr. Akshay Karlekar, Advocate for the Petitioners Mr. V.G. Badgujar, AGP for Respondent Nos.1 to 4/State. CORAM : RAVINDRA V. GHUGE & ABHAY J. MANTRI, JJ.
DATE : 28th JANUARY, 2026 P.C. :- 1.
For the last one year, we have noticed that several Education Officers of various Districts, including Corporations (Education Inspectors) are treating the orders of the Court casually and there has been a huge surge in the filing of the Contempt Petitions, only because these Officers do not obey the directions of this Court.
2.
On 18th December, 2025, we have issued directions. The learned Advocate for the Petitioners submits that Respondent
Nos.5 and 6 have tendered the bills on 21st January 2026, when we have directed them to serve the bills on Respondent No.3 within a period of 15 days, which is by 2nd January, 2026. 3.
We find that the notices to Respondent Nos.5 and 6 were issued by the Registry on 14th January, 2026, when the order was passed on 18th December, 2025.
4.
In view of the above, we issue the following directions :- (a) Respondent No.3 would clear the bills within five working days from today.
(b) The Registrar Judicial-I shall issue a show-cause notice to the concerned Officer/Employee of the High Court, who has issued notice on 14th January, 2026 after almost 29 days. Explanation be sought within a period of five days and appropriate action be initiated against the concerned. Compliance report be tendered before the Court on the next date.
5.
List this Petition on 11th February, 2026, in the 'Urgent Supplementary Board'.
