IN THE HIGH COURT OF JUDICATURE AT BOMBAY

BENCH AT AURANGABAD 45 CIVIL APPLICATION NO. 9816 OF 2025 IN PIL/22/2024 The Union Of India Through The Secretary And Others

VERSUS

Mahadeo Nana Nagargoje And Others ...

Mr. Talhar Ajay G., Advocate for Applicant, through VC Mr. V. M. Kagne, AGP for Respondents State Mr. N. L. Jadhav, Advocate for Respondents 1 to 3 .....

CORAM

: MANISH PITALE & Y. G. KHOBRAGADE, JJ.

DATE : 22nd September, 2025 PER COURT :- 1.

Learned counsel for Respondent Nos. 1 to 3 has tendered reply affidavit in this application. The same is taken on record. 2.

Learned counsel for the said respondents is vehemently opposing the prayer made in this application and he submits that the applicants have not been able to make out any cogent reason for seeking extension up to 31.05.2026, to abide by the directions issued by this Court while disposing of the present Public Interest Litigation. 3.

The PIL concerns Paithan, Pandharpur Palkhi marg project and a direction was issued by this court that the project should be completed by 31.12.2024 .

4.

We find that the reasons stated in this application seeking extension of time till 31.05.2026 are general in nature. Specific details

45ca9816-25 are not placed on record. We are of the opinion that some of the officers of the applicants themselves have to pull up their socks to ensure that the project is completed at the earliest.

5.

There is no question of granting extension of time till 31.05.2026 on the basis of the vague reasons stated in the application. 6.

In any case, if at all, we would consider granting extension for a brief period, which could be up to 31.12.2025, if cogent reasons are placed on record.

7.

Detailed additional affidavit giving proper reasons and the status of the project till date shall be placed on record within one week from today.

8.

List the application/PIL for further directions on 3rd October, 2025, in urgent orders category.

9.

In the light of the statement made in the present Civil Application, listWrit Petition No. 8757 of 2019 alongwith this P.I.L. on the next date of listing.
