Since the appointment of the sole arbitrator had been effected in exercise of jurisdiction under Section 11 of the Act and in reliance upon the decision of a Learned Division Bench of this Court (Goa Bench) in Sheela Chowgule v. Vijay V. Chowgule & Ors1, the jurisdiction to extend the mandate under Section 29-A would lie with this Court, and this Petition is being entertained. 2.

In these circumstances, taking into account the stage at which the arbitral proceedings are placed, this Petition is finally disposed of extending the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal for a period of eight months, rounded upto August 31, 2026.
