Heard learned Counsel for the Petitioner.

In substance, the Petitioner has no grievance with the order dated 13.06.2024 passed by the Central Administrative Tribunal ("CAT"), insofar as the said order grants one notional increment, the Petitioner having retired prior to 01.01.2007. However, it is submitted that subsequent to the said order, the Hon'ble Supreme Court, by its order dated 20.02.2025 in Civil Appeal No. 393/2023 along with Misc. Application Diary Nos. 2400/2024, 35783/2024, 35785/2024 and 36786/2024, has clarified that in such cases, notional increment shall be granted from the date on which the concerned party approaches the Tribunal, the High Court, or the Supreme Court, as the case may be.

3. Learned Counsel for the Petitioners, therefore, seeks a 21st April, 2026

8 WP 35 2026 clarification of the CAT's order to the effect that the grant of notional increment be made operative from the date of filing of the application before the CAT, contending that the order of the CAT is ambiguous as regards the effective date.

4. Upon perusal of the impugned order, we are of the view that the same does not call for any interference in the present proceedings. If the Petitioner is of the opinion that the said order requires clarification, particularly in light of the aforesaid judgment of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, it would be open to the Petitioner to approach the CAT by an appropriate application seeking such clarification.

5. In the absence of any ground warranting interference, the Petition stands rejected, with the aforesaid liberty.
