By this interim application, the applicants essentially seek a direction to the respondent Nos.1 to 3 to provide lift facility to the second floor of the building in old Secretariat Annexe where MRT is situated.

On 28th November 2025, the following order was passed by this Court in the aforesaid application : - 1/3

By this interim application, the Applicants seek a direction to the Respondent Nos.1 to 3 to provide lift facility to the second floor of the building in old Secretariat Annexe where MRT is situated.

Learned Counsel for the Applicants inform this Court that the lift is functional for the first floor and third floor, however the lift does not stop on the second floor. Learned Senior Counsel for the Applicants states that since the lift does not stop on the second floor where MRT is situated great hardship and difficulties are caused to the litigants and lawyers as each floor is equivalent to about two floors. We are informed today that the lift is nonfunctional since June-2025. 3.
Mr. Sambhaji Ghorpade, Executive Engineer (Electrical), PWD, Presidency Division, Mumbai, is personally present in Court. On our request, he states that the lift issue will be resolved within twelve days from today. Statement accepted. 4.
In this view of the matter, it will be appropriate to direct the Respondents to ensure that the lifts are made functional within twelve days.

Stand over to 11th December 2025."

Today, we are informed that the lift is functioning and operational. We appreciate the alacrity with which the officers have ensured that the lift issue is resolved and that the lift is made operational.

At this stage, learned counsel for the applicants states that the respondents be directed to appoint a liftman for lift for its better maintenance and operation.

Learned Addl.G.P., on instructions, states that the authority after speaking to other stakeholders will take a decision on appointing a liftman. Statement accepted.

In view of the aforesaid statement made by the learned Addl.G.P. on instructions, nothing survives for further consideration in this interim application. Interim Application stands disposed of accordingly.

List the matter for compliance with respect to the appointment of a liftman on 22nd January 2026. SANDESH D. PATIL, J.
