On 05.03.2026, the matter was heard and the same was reserved for orders. However, while preparing the matter for dictation of the order, it has been noticed that the incident in which the victim sustained burn injuries occurred on 01.05.2019 and the offence came to be registered against the appellant-accused on 04.05.2019. The appellant-accused was arrested on 27.07.2019 and was remanded to MCR with effect from 29.07.2019. After completion of investigation, the Investigating Officer filed the charge-sheet on 30.09.2019. Thereafter, on 30.03.2021, the learned Special Court/Additional Sessions Judge framed charges against the appellant-accused for the offences punishable under Sections 302, 307 and 203 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, and under Sections 3(1)(r), 3(1)(s) and 3(2)(va) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

It is further noticed that a total of six witnesses have been examined and, as per the charge-sheet, the prosecution has cited a total of 42 witnesses. The offences alleged are of a serious nature, for which punishment of life imprisonment or capital punishment is prescribed. Therefore, in order to ascertain the likely schedule for conclusion of the trial, it would be just and proper to call for a report from the learned Special Court/Additional Sessions Judge, Ahmednagar regarding the progress/status of the trial in Special Case No. 259 of 2019. 3.
In view of the above, the learned Special Court/Additional Sessions Judge is directed to submit a detailed report regarding the progress/status of the trial, along with a copy of the Roznama, before the next date of hearing.

The learned APP shall also take instructions from the prosecution/Investigating Officer regarding the progress of the trial and the period within which the trial is likely to be concluded. 5.
The matter is de-reserved.
