DATE : 6th March 2026 P.C.:- 1) Present Petition is received through jail. Petitioner is seeking a relief of quashing and setting aside the Government Notification dated 10th February 2022, as he is aggrieved by the Rule 19(3)(C)(ii) which mandates that, the prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment must undergo one and a half years of actual imprisonment from the date of their last return from furlough or regular parole leave to become eligible for any subsequent release.

4) Smt. Aruna A. Mugutrao, Superintendent, Nashikroad Central Prison, has filed a detailed Affidavit dated 11th February 2026. In para No.5 thereof, the deponent has stated that, the Government, vide its Notification dated 2nd December 2024 has amended the rules governing the release of prisoners on parole and furlough leave and the embargo previously introduced by Notification dated 10th February 2022 has been removed. 5) In view of the above, the grievance of the Petitioner does not survive. The Petition has become infructuous and is accordingly disposed off.
