On 5-1-2026, following order was passed.

"The petitioner has approached the Court seeking direction to complete investigation within 30 days.

The previous orders indicate that the investigation was pending for want of handwriting expert's report. Learned Public Prosecution - Senior Counsel for respondent-State submits that handwriting expert's report is received and the final report will be filed within 15 working days. 4.

The statement is accepted. The petitioner is satisfied with the development. 5.

On previous date, we had taken up the issue of pendency of investigation on this count in many other cases and accordingly called upon the Additional Secretary, Home Department, Mantralaya, Mumbai, to submit a detailed report as to how the issue of pendency will be addressed by the department.

In response, Mr. D. V. Chauhan, learned Public Prosecutor and Senior Counsel submits that effective steps have been taken by the Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Mantalaya, Mumbai. The Steps include appointment of Tata Consultancy Services (for short 'TCS') for the purpose of recruitment process. The syllabus of examination for Assistant State Examiner of Documents is finalized and communicated to TCS to set papers for the examination. This process will be completed in due course. In the meantime, the State CID has initiated procedure to appoint retired Government Document Examiners on contractual basis as per Government Resolutions dated 17-12-2016 and 10-6-2025.

Thus, the issue of pendency of the investigation for want of handwriting expert's report has been now taken up seriously by the Home Department. Affidavit to that effect is submitted across the bar. Same is taken on record.

We are satisfied with the steps taken by the Home Department. The petition is accordingly disposed of.
