This is an Application for regular bail.

I have heard Learned Counsel for the Applicant and Learned APP for the Respondent-State.

Learned Counsel for the Applicant has drawn my attention to the order dated 9th January 2025 in Criminal Bail Application No.3172 of 2024 which was filed by the Applicant. Learned Counsel for the Applicant submits that by the said order, this Court directed the trial court to conclude the trial expeditiously. It is submitted that the trial is still at initial stage as the prosecution has examined only one witness till date. It is further submitted that the Applicant is in jail for two years and two months. It is thus submitted that the Applicant be released on bail. Mugdha

As the trial has commenced, I am not inclined to release the Applicant at this stage. However considering the fact that the Applicant is in jail for two years and two months, the trial court shall endeavour to conclude the trial within a period of six months from today. If the trial is not concluded within the said period, liberty is granted to the Applicant to file a fresh application for bail.

The present Criminal Bail Application is disposed of in the aforesaid terms.
