It is common ground that the arbitrator was appointed by this Court under Section 11 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 ("the Act") by an order March 21, 2024. Therefore, this Court would have jurisdiction to consider an Application for extension of mandate under Section 29-A in view of the decision of a Learned Division Bench of this Court (Goa Bench) in Sheela Chowgule v. Vijay V. Chowgule & Ors1.

The mandate of the arbitral tribunal has expired on September 24, 2025. In view of the same, the mandate is extended by a period of one year from today.

In these circumstances, taking into account the stage at which the Arbitral proceedings are placed, this Petition is finally disposed of extending the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal for a period of one year rounded upto December 31, 2026.
