By this Writ Petition, the Petitioner has sought setting aside of the impugned Rejection Slip (Annexure B 1 to the Petition) issued on 1st December 2025 by Respondent No. 6. There are other 1/7

consequential prayers sought for in the Writ Petition. 4.

The Petitioner had pursuant to the public notice dated 5th September 2024, issued by Respondent No. 2 for vacancies - Constable (GD) in CAPFs/SSF/ Assam Rifles/2025, applied and his application was submitted along with the original Aadhar Card and cleared biometric verification.

In the CBT examination, the Petitioner had obtained 106.37337 marks by which he had qualified for PST/PET (ST CBT cut-off : 78.60235). This was on 25th February 2025. 6.

The Petitioner had accordingly appeared before the examining authority and produced the relevant documents including the original Aadhar Card and cleared biometric verification. 7.

The Petitioner had thereafter, appeared before the Respondent No. 6 on 1st December 2025 and produced the aforementioned documents along with the Matriculation Certificate and other relevant documents.

The Petitioner is aggrieved by the impugned Rejection Slip, as according to the Petitioner, though there are grounds 1 to 6 mentioned therein for rejection, the rejection was solely on the ground of name mismatch between online form and Matriculation Certificate.

The Petitioner has stated that inspite of the Petitioner having qualified for PST/PET, he has been denied the said post on the technical ground of name mismatch between online form and Matriculation Certificate.

The learned Counsel for the Petitioner has tendered an Affidavit dated 1st April 2026, which has been filed pursuant to the order dated 30th March 2026 passed by this Court. This was directed to be filed in view of submission of the learned Counsel for the Petitioner that the post of Constable (GD) had not been made available to the Petitioner and his candidature had been rejected solely on the ground that there is mismatch in the Petitioner's name on online form from the actual name in the Matriculation Certificate (Xth Standard Certificate). The other grounds of rejection mentioned in the slip, namely grounds 1 to 5, are stated to be not the grounds of 3/7

rejection, as the Petitioner had complied with the same. 11.

The learned Counsel for the Petitioner has referred to the documents which had been submitted and inspite of which, the grounds for rejection are for non-submission. 12.

The learned Counsel for the Petitioner has referred to the Affidavit which has been filed by the Petitioner on 20th February 2026, which mentioned the name discrepancy and against which it is stated that in the online application form the Petitioner's name was recorded as 'Ramprasad'. However, in the S.S.C. passing certificate the name was recorded as 'Shelke Ramprasad Mohanrao'. This Affidavit had been filed for the purpose of production before this Court and the Respondents Authorities.

The learned Counsel for the Respondents states that although the rejection of the Petitioner's candidature for the post of Constable (GD) examination 2025 was on the ground of mismatch in the name appearing on the online application form with that appearing on the S.S.C. passing Certificate, there are no vacant posts to accommodate the Petitioner.

We have considered the submissions. It appears that from the document at Exh.F to the Petition, which is issued by Government of India, Department of Personnel & Training Staff Selection Commission, at paragraph 7.2 there are vacancies for the post of Constable (GD) in the category in which the Petitioner has qualified viz. ST.

Considering that the Petitioner's candidature for the post of Constable (GD) Examination 2025 had been rejected solely on the technical ground that his name appearing on the online application form differs from that in the 10th Standard Certificate, i.e. Secondary School Certificate / Matriculation Certificate, the Petitioner is allowed to make the requisite correction.

The Petitioner has also filed the Affidavit dated 20th February 2026, which mentions the name discrepancy. We are of the view that this should not come in the way of Petitioner being eligible for the post of Constable/GD examination 2025, particularly, since he has qualified for the said post. This is provided that the State posts are vacant. Accordingly, we pass the following order:- 5/7

(i) The impugned Rejection Slip (Annexure B 1 to the Petition) dated 1st December 2025 issued by Respondent No. 6 is quashed and set aside.

(ii) The Respondents are directed to permit the Petitioner to carry out the correction of his name in the online application form, which will match with his name reflected in the S.S.C. passing Certificate, viz. 'Shelke Ramprasad Mohanrao'.

(iii) The Respondents shall permit the Petitioner to appear for the Detailed Medical Examination (DME) for the post of Constable (GD) in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), SSF, Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles, and Sepoy in NCB Examination-2025, treating his candidature as valid and subsisting.

(iv) The Respondents are further directed that if the Petitioner is found fit in the Detailed Medical Examination and is otherwise meritorious, his name shall be included in the list of recommended 6/7

candidates and an appointment letter be issued to him, subject to there being vacancies for the said post and the Petitioner's complying with the requisite procedure. This exercise shall be carried out within a period of four weeks from the uploading of this order. (v) The Writ Petition is accordingly, disposed of in the above terms.
