The Petitioners' contention is that the deceased Mangesh Hanuman Mondhe, who was the sole earning member of their family, died due to attack by wild animal i.e. Bison. Accordingly, the petitioners had approached the respondent No.3-Range Forest Officer, Bhadrawati (Mohurli, Buffer Zone) on 13.02.2025 by submitting the application for grant of compensation in view of the policy adopted by the State Government under the relevant GR so also as per the provisions of the Maharashtra Payment of Compensation for Loss, Injury or Damage Caused by Wild Animals Act, 2023. The learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the aforesaid application has not been decided till date.

The learned Government Pleader submits that the Conservator of Forest and Field Director of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Project, Chandrapur vide communication (page 53) dated 13.03.2025, has already directed to the Deputy Director (Buffer), Tadoba Andhari Tiger Project, Chandrapur to submit report upon such application submitted by the petitioners.

In view of the above, the present writ petition can be disposed of with following directions :

(i) The Conservator of Forest and Field Director of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Project, Chandrapur is directed to decide the representation dated 13.02.2025 submitted by the petitioners within eight weeks from the date of appearance of the petitioners.

(ii) The petitioners shall appear before the Conservator of Forest and Field Director of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Project, Chandrapur on 16.01.2026 at 11.00 a.m.

(iii) The learned counsel for the petitioners undertakes to furnish copy of this order so also the present petition to the Conservator of Forest and Field Director of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Project, Chandrapur.

3/3 (iv) The Conservator of Forest and Field Director of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Project, Chandrapur shall consider the representation dated 13.02.2025 and the report submitted by the Deputy Director (Buffer), Tadoba Andhari Tiger Project, Chandrapur, so also the contentions raised in the present petition while deciding the aforesaid application.

(v) The decision taken shall be communicated to the petitioners within two weeks from the date of such decision.

Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of in the above terms. No order as to costs.
