Heard Ms Nisha Gajbhiye (Appointed), the learned counsel for the petitioner.

The contention is that the petitioner participated in running competition in the category of physically handicapped persons wherein he was issued Certificate since he stood second place in merit in 200 meters running competition. On the basis of the said certificate, the petitioner has been appointed as 'Vidyut Sayayak' on the establishment of the respondent no.6-Chief Engineer, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited, Gondia Circle, Gondia. However, the respondent no.6 in compliance of the mandatory requirements has directed the petitioner to submit verification certificate of the aforesaid sports certificate.

The petitioner submits that the petitioner had already approached the competent Authority i.e. respondent no.5 for such verification certificate on 14.08.2024. The respondent no.5 has duly forwarded the aforesaid certificate of the petitioner to the respondent no.1 vide communication dated 26.09.2025, which is at record page no.18-Annexure 'F', for its verification.

Ms Gajbhiye, learned counsel, submits that till today the aforesaid verification process is not completed by the respondent no.1 and as such the selection of the petitioner is likely to be cancelled for want of verification certificate.

In that view of the matter, we dispose of the writ petition with a direction to the respondent no.1 to complete the verification process of the petitioner dated 21-22/02/2011 State Level Competition for 200 meters running where the petitioner stood second place in merit, within a stipulated period of two weeks from the date of receipt of the order of this Court. The petitioner undertakes to produce the copy of this order before the respondent no. 1 within a period of one week from today. Decision taken thereupon shall be communicated to the petitioner within a period of two weeks from the date of such decision. 6.

In the meantime, the respondent no.6 is directed not to cancel the selection of the petitioner on the post of 'Vidyut Sahayak' on the ground of non submission of the verification certificate. 7.

With these directions, the writ petition is disposed of. No order as to costs.

Office is directed to quantify and pay the fees to the appointed Advocate.
