Rule. Rule is made returnable forthwith. Heard finally with the consent of the learned counsel for the parties. 4.
The present petition seeks a direction to the respondent No. 1 - Scrutiny Committee, to decide the Caste/Tribe claim of the
913.WP3464.26.odt 3/4 petitioners and issue validity certificate in their names within a period of two months.

The facts as can be seen from the petition are as under: a) The petitioners herein belong to 'Halba' caste, which is included at Serial No. 19 in the list of Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes Order, 1950. Accordingly the petitioners were issued caste certificates on 24.06.2024, which they have submitted for verification in accordance with the provisions of the Maharashtra Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, De-Notified Tribes (Vimukta Jatis), Nomadic Tribes, Other Backward Classes And Special Backward Category (Regulation Of Issuance And Verification Of) Caste Certificate Act, 2000.
b) As can be seen from the record of the matter, the claims were submitted on 11.07.2024 vide respective applications and are pending before the Scrutiny Committee till date. c) It is also stated in the petition that on 04.11.2024 all the petitioners appeared before the respondent - Committee for physical scrutiny of their online applications and submitted all other documents in support of the claim.

The learned counsel for the petitioners submits that all the petitioners are students and they want to pursue their education. However, due to the non-availability of the validity certificate there may be an impediment for the same. In the conspectus of these fact, the present petition is filed seeking direction as stated supra. 7.
We have gone through the record of the matter and also gone through the proposal submitted by the petitioners for validation. 8.
The learned counsel for the petitioners also draws our attention to the fact that the proposals which were subsequently received as that of the petitioners have already been granted validity, and there is no reason for not proceeding with the proposals of the petitioners.

In that view of the matter, we direct the respondent no. 1 - Scrutiny Committee to decide the validity proposals of the petitioners, which are pending since 11.07.2024, as expeditiously as possible and, in any case, till 15.06.2026.
