By this writ petition, the petitioners are seeking directions to the respondent No.2- Committee to decide the caste validity claim of the petitioners' expeditiously. 2.
Heard learned counsel for the petitioners, who submitted that the petitioners are of 'Halba Tribe' by birth which is notified as 'Scheduled Tribe' in the State of Maharashtra. The petitioners were granted caste certificates dated 12.02.2018 and 10.05.2019 by the Competent Authority of jurisdiction after satisfying itself regarding caste claim of the petitioners. The petitioners are reserved category students. The caste certificates of the petitioners are referred for the verification. The petitioners have already filed the applications in the statutory forms and submitted various documents including the old documents of probative value. In order to expedite case of the petitioners before
respondent No.2-Committee, grand father of the petitioners has addressed reminder letters dated 15.09.2025 and 23.05.2025 for early disposal of the case since serious prejudice is being caused to the petitioners being the students. The grand father of the petitioners repeatedly following up the matter with the respondent No.2Committee, however, it is not yet disposed of. It is submitted by the learned counsel for the petitioners that due to delay in disposal of the applications filed, the petitioners are suffering and prejudice is caused to them. If their caste claim for the validity of the caste certificate is not considered at the earliest, they would loose the opportunity and therefore, seeking directions to the respondent No.2Committee to decide the case. 3.
Learned AGP waives notice for the respondent Nos.1 and 2/State.

On instructions, she submitted that respondent No.2-Committee has stated that by six months, they will dispose of the applications filed by the petitioners for the validity. It is submitted by her that at present, it is pending before the Vigilance Committee for verification and for the report, it would require some time and thereafter, the Committee would make every endeavour to dispose of the application within six months.

Learned counsel for the petitioners also consented for the same.

In view of the above submissions, the petition deserves to be allowed.

Accordingly, we proceed to pass the following order:-
ORDER
(i) The petition is allowed.
(ii) The Scheduled Tribe Certificates Scrutiny Committee, Nagpur Division, Nagpur - respondent No.2 shall dispose of the applications of the petitioners which are filed for the validity dated 02.05.2023 within six months from today.
