This petition seeks a direction to the Director of Education to dispose of the Petitioner's application for commencing class XIth in the Arts stream. 2.

The application has been pending since 31.10.2025 and has not been decided since. Considering that a period of almost seven months has elapsed since the application was filed and the report of the Assistant District Educational Inspector (ADEI) has been submitted to the Director of Education on 19.02.2026, we do not see why the Director should not consider disposing of the same in a time-bound fashion. | 3.

We are also mindful of the fact that 20 parents of students of the very same school who have completed class Xth are seeking admission in class XIth to ensure continuity of their academic career in the same school. 4.

We are also mindful of the fact that if the decision is not taken in a time-bound fashion, not only these 20 students, but several other students who potentially might have joined Class XIth in the Petitioner's School would also not have a chance to take admission in the coming academic year, which commences in the first week of June, 2026.

In fact, the 20 students, seeking admission in class XIth, have filed a separate Writ Petition No.338 of 2026 for the grant of permission to open a new Class XIth in the said School.

Considering all these facts, we deem it appropriate to request the Director of Education to dispose of the application after considering the report and all other material before him by 15.05.2026. 7.

List this petitions on 08.06.2026 along with Writ Petition No. 338 of 2026.
