Heard the learned Counsel for the petitioner. 2.

The challenge in this petition is to an order dated 18th September, 2025 passed by the Competent Authority thereby externing the petitioner by invoking the provisions contained in Section 55 of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951. There is a statutory remedy of appeal against the order impugned in this petition before the Divisional Commissioner under Section 60 of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951. As the petitioner has an efficacious statutory remedy, the petition stands disposed with liberty to prefer an appeal against the impugned order. 3.

In the event such an appeal is filed within a period of two weeks from today, the Appellate Authority is requested to hear SAINATH 1/2

16 WP 687-26.DOC and decide the appeal as expeditiously as possible and, preferably, within a period of six weeks thereafter. 4.

The petition stands disposed.
