Learned Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) seeks time on the count that Public Prosecutor/ Government Pleader has to argue the matter and his extension has not yet been approved.

When enquired, learned APP submits that term of Public Prosecutor/Government Pleader expired on 28-2-2026. If that be so, the necessary steps ought to have been taken by the concerned Ministry and decision ought to have been taken before 28-2-2026. The post of Government Pleader/Public Prosecutor cannot be kept vacant.

We call upon Principal Secretary of Law and Judiciary Department, State of Maharashtra to apprise us and to explain as to why steps have not been taken.
